What is a “month and a day?”

Merchandise is reduced to half price a month and a day after the item is priced. Here is an example: if an item was priced on 9/5, it goes to half price when the shop opens on 10/6. Customers sometimes think that they can wait until 4:01 p.m. on 10/5, and get the item for half price. Our merchandise is not sold for half-price until the next morning’s opening.
